Philippa Durkin’s journey as Principal of Henderson High school started with a beautiful pōwhiri on our marae. Our staff welcomed Ms Durkin with kōrero and song followed by shared kai. Ms Durkin spoke about Te Tūāpapa o Panuku, our shared values, grounding all of us, all our cultures, all our backgrounds. She spoke to staff about the need for the values to be spoken about and acknowledged and her responsibility to model our values, champion our pedagogy and lead us to our shared vision – To empower students with the knowledge to change their world for the better.
