Senior Te Reo Māori and Te Ao Haka students have arrived safely at Whareroa Marae in Tauranga for their annual haerenga journey. Tauranga Moana iwi are commemorating 159 years since the battles of Gate Pā and Te Ranga, where in 1864 approximately 200 Māori went up against 2,000 British troops, and won.
Our tauira (students) will be immersed in te reo and tikanga Māori during their stay, to develop their skills on the marae.
