The PPTA has advised the Henderson High School Board that, unless agreement can be reached in its negotiations with the Ministry of Education, member teachers at our school will be taking strike action on Wednesday 29 March 2023.
The school has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff and, unfortunately, has decided that we can’t provide normal instruction during the strike. Therefore, the school will officially be closed for instruction on the strike day. In general, we support teachers in their campaign for improved pay and conditions, and hope that negotiations will proceed quickly to avoid further disruption to our students’ education.
If making alternative arrangements for care is difficult, we can supervise a small number of students if required. Please contact the school office admin@hhs.school.nz if your student will need supervision at school on Wednesday.
We know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike. Please be assured that safety is our main concern.
Thank you for your understanding.
